I first became aware of this band after repeatedly seeing David Cross wearing one of their hats on the first season of Mr. Show. This is their major-label debut; solid rock songs with huge hooks that sadly went unheard by the masses. I have heard this album compared to generic rock-radio bands like Third Eye Blind, but I frankly do NOT hear it. This album has a real Nada Surf feel on some songs while others remind me of Modest Mouse's more recent output. If anyone has their first full-length post it up in the comments, I heard it sounds just like Pavement.
I got this album back in the day, when it came out and absolutely loved it. We played Wrecking Ball on our college radio station where I DJed. Good choice, I also would love to hear their first release...
