Fang Island play super intense/rad/catchy/mathy instrumental rock. The new self titled album just came out on Sargent House Records (Russian Circles, Tera Melos, This Town Needs Guns) and it totally slays. For the first time they've added vocal parts to more than just one song-per-release and its totally killer (still mostly just woah-ohs and chanted vocals though). If you dig Wildcatting, The Fucking Champs and AWK then you'll eat this up. I was a fan of the band before, but this new release is fucking next-level awesome, especially the guitars. They are both more melodic and intricate. Some of the dueling guitar parts remind my of Thin Lizzy in a big way.

This is the European remastered version of the album that was released in 2007. Sounds even better than ever. This release also contains as bonus tracks the 7" version of "Prince Of The Rodeo", as well as a cover of Bowie's "Suffragette City". Recommended to anyone who likes getting totally rad.

Classic NYC hardcore from one of my favourites. This is the perfect party band with lots of songs about: beers, barbeque and bud. Each album is great, especially those with Todd Youth on guitar (Back With A Bong, Best Of Times and Dedicated). The man is a legend, he's played with both Warzone and Danzig, and he solos all over the place. Yeah each album has a ska song on it, but don't hold it against them, it really isn't that big of a deal.

By now everyone should already know and love all the song on this album. A lot of critics wrote this off as lame jock-jams, but fuck them, AWK always gets the party started in a big way. If you can't enjoy this album then you hate fun. Period.
